The irony of this vintage French paint palette and my attempts at navigating behind the scenes world of WordPress are not lost on me. I prefer the former. A lot. It’s messy and beautiful and imperfect. Technical prowess, to me, is the opposite. The precision and lack of intuition but actual correct information and button pushing is maddening! Why must artists do both? Seriously. Why? But they do. I do, at least, and the mountain I am scaling is high but there is progress. What am I trying to say? Hire someone. If you can, if you are starting out, hire someone to build the website. Then you can go backwards, like me, and stare nervously over the cursor and pray you haven’t deleted an entire post or page or portfolio. So far so good if you’re reading this.
Today was a First Day of School kind of day for me. I had my first lesson of probably many with my web designer (see “Hire Someone”, hire her, she’s great) so I could do some back end work on my website myself rather than let it sit for the next five years like I did the last one. And you know what? It IS hard to teach an old dog new tricks! Not impossible, but a little more effort than the olden days whenever that was. But here I am click clacking away “behind the curtain” and I’m doing ok. Which means you can too. Or whatever that very scary difficult thing is that you don’t think you can do. I haven’t broken the internet yet. Feeling wobbly confident and oh so grateful that tomorrow is a painting day and I can slowly shut the lid of my MacBook Air and say, bye bye. xo
