I’ve recently started traveling again and it’s made me double down my appreciation for the creative nests we have built ourselves over the past couple of years. It’s a jungle out there! Airports, people, pushing, shoving, nonsensical questions…and that was getting through security at my local airport! I think everyone is a little dazed and confused. And i might prefer my wild life on the walls and inside my creative nest.
I’m ready to travel, really I am. But with a little hindsight, I am incredibly grateful I had a creative calling during lockdown and was able to thrive in my nest. No, mine is not a be-ribboned mauve pink salon with a life sized parakeet peering in…but I wouldn’t be opposed. I have grown to feel such comfort and solace surrounding myself with family treasures, furniture that has been passed down and meaningful art. I think I was on the road so much for so many years I never realized I was a homebody that just didn’t know it yet.
Here’s to our creative nests–in all their colors. The comfort, the home base, the smell of a good candle, the strong coffee in the morning, the fresh tubes of paint and the time to enjoy all of them. And filling up the creative well enough that travel sounds like a good idea. xo
